Not Original paper and leather covers, linen binding untied, the first folio separated from binding; traces of humidity notable, text readable. Neskhi script, black ink, certain terms and marks in the text written with red ink. Marginal notes, ink: black and red. Unwan decorated with an ornament, colours: golden, orange, blue, green, black, violet and pink. Beginning of the text within a thick double golden frame, the rest of the text within a thin red frame. Name of the previous owner on the end of the manuscript: Minlā Zakariyā Ibn Minlā Muḥammad aš-Šarīf; Originalne kartonske korice prevučene kožom, platneni povez odšiven, prvi list odvojen od poveza; tragovi vlage vidljivi, tekst je čitljiv. Neshi, crno mastilo, određeni termini i oznake u tekstu zabeleženi su crvenim mastilom. Beleške na marignama zapisane su crnim i crvenim mastilom. Zaglavlje ukrašeno ornamentom u sledećim bojama: zlatnoj, narandžastoj, plavoj, zelenoj, crnoj, ljubičastoj i ružičastoj. Imene kadašnjeg vlasnika na kraju rukopisa: Minlā Zakariyā Ibn Minlā Muḥammad aš-Šarīf; At some point Muhammad adopted the practice of meditating alone for several weeks every year in a cave on Mount Hira near Mecca. Islamic tradition holds that during one of his visits to Mount Hira, the angel Gabriel appeared to himin the year 610 and commanded Muhammad to recite the following verses: Proclaim! (or read!) in the name of thy Lord and Cherisher, Who created- Created man, out of a (mere) clot of congealed blood: Proclaim! And thy Lord is Most Bountiful,- He Who taught (the use of) the pen,- Taught man that which he knew not. -Quran, sura 96 (Al-Alaq), ayat 1-5 After returning home, Muhammad was consoled and reassured by Khadijah and her Christian cousin, Waraqah ibn Nawfal. Upon receiving his first revelations, he was deeply distressed and resolved to commit suicide. He also feared that others would dismiss his claims as being possessed.
