Dervish Nidayi was the doctor of the Crimean khan Sahib Guirei, then he went to the service of Sultan Selim II, in the same capacity, in 975 or 978 of the Hegean (1567 or 1571). Nidayi put in verse, for Selim II, a treaty, which was composed by Bedr ed-Din Mohammed ibn Bedr ed-Din el-Kausouni, nicknamed in Turkish Kaïsounizade (sic), who had been a doctor of Sultan Soleïman I. The ManafiLe el-nas was composed in the year 974 of the Hégire (1566), the very year of the advent of Selim II, to which it is dedicated (folio 2 verso); it is divided into sixty chapters, the detail of which is indicated in its preface (folios 5-7); the copy is not finished, and it stops in the course of the text of the fifty-sixth chapter; it is followed by an opustitleLe مLe رباLe, or book of the book of the remedies There are then various extracts (folio 108 verso), one of them on astrology. According to a note from Langlès' hand, this manuscript was reported from Egypt by General Menou, and deposited by him at the Library on 18 Ventôse de lan XI. |
