| Not | Call Number - 0001037; Detail of page from the Kulliyat (Collected Works) of the popular Persian poet Sa'di. Shows text in the top right quadrant, with a scene portraying various activities surrounding it. For example, in the tent on the left, the two figures appear to be playing a board game, while another individual can be seen cooking below. Read widely throughout the world and influencing the writings of individuals such as Diderot, Hugo and Voltaire, the works of Sa’di (d.1291), were first collected into a single volume during the fourteenth century and are known for their social and moral themes. An illustrated volume of Sa’di’s Kulliyat, the miniatures from this manuscript appear to depict scenes from within the text and are rich in both colour and detail. Sources: Arnold, E.
