| Not | Call Number - 0013135; Detail of page from the Kulliyat (Collected Works) of the popular Persian poet Sa'di. Shows text at the top and bottom of the page, with the central image depicting three figures playing musical instruments, while others appear to be dancing. On the right, children and adults look on at them. Read widely throughout the world and influencing the writings of individuals such as Diderot, Hugo and Voltaire, the works of Sa’di (d.1291), were first collected into a single volume during the fourteenth century and are known for their social and moral themes. An illustrated volume of Sa’di’s Kulliyat, the miniatures from this manuscript appear to depict scenes from within the text and are rich in both colour and detail. Sources: Arnold, E.
