| Not | Call Number - 0001054; Detail of page from the Kulliyat (Collected Works) of the popular Persian poet Sa'di. Shows text at the bottom of the page, with blue and gold Persian style motifs above. This colouring can be found throughout the manuscript and such pages may indicate the beginning of a new chapter. Read widely throughout the world and influencing the writings of individuals such as Diderot, Hugo and Voltaire, the works of Sa’di (d.1291), were first collected into a single volume during the fourteenth century and are known for their social and moral themes. An illustrated volume of Sa’di’s Kulliyat, the miniatures from this manuscript appear to depict scenes from within the text and are rich in both colour and detail. Sources: Arnold, E.
