Completed in c.1385-1386, the Sharh al-Miftah is a commentary on the third book of Al-Sakkaki’s popular rhetorical work, the Miftah al-ulum, and was written by the Persian polymath al-Taftazani, an expert in rhetoric, logic, metaphysics, theology and law. Copied onto a thick, cream coloured paper in black ink, this manuscript dates to 1423, making it one of the earliest known examples of the work. It is 27.4 by 18cm in size and contains 175 folios. |
