| Not | Scanning from a substitute document.; The book begins with an abridgment of the collection of maxims with the title of Lاويدا“ر”, translated from the pehlevi in Arabic by Al-“asan ibn Sahl, brother of the vizir of Al-Ma” moûn. Ibn Maskawaïh wanted to complete this collection, adding a large number of maxims attributed to Persians, Indians, Arabs and Greeks. This compendium also bears the title of Ce داș العرș الș رș “Precepts of conduct of Arabs and Persians.” M. de Sacy has dealt with this book in the Memoirs of the Academy of Enrolments and Letters, t.
