| Not | Treatise on the Prophet Muhammad's sandals (Fath al-muta'al fi madh al-ni'al) by al-Maqqari. Born in Tlemcen (Algeria), the scholar and historian Ahmad ibn Muhammad al-Maqqari (d. 1632) lived in several different cities, serving the Sa`adi ruler Ahmad al-Mansur (d. 1603) in Fez and Marrakesh, before moving to Cairo, c. 1617. Composed in 1621, this work discusses the Prophet's sandals and also the traces of his footprints, which are attested in different sacred locations. This manuscript was copied in May 1661 from al-Maqqari's original autograph manuscript, which he had written out in 1632 (most likely in Cairo).
