'To my master, the landlord Dionysius, your bailiff. I wish you to know, my master, that I have paid the messengers acting on behalf of Sabinus and Naraous their wages in full up to today, that no one may (? incite) them about that. Not only did they receive their regular wages from me, but an advance payment as well, and without any grounds they left me and went to you. Show no fear before them that they may not be slack about your work--they will be slack in many matters. Send me the money which I gave for the price of the house, for they're demanding the freight tax here that we may be ... I spent it on business affairs. I had need of my brothers; for I sent to you about them and that you might commend them to Apollonius; present them to Apollonius himself that he may pay attention to them. I pray for your health, my master.' |
