| Not | Papyrus fragment preserving a private letter from Allous to her husband (?) Morion, written in Egypt and dated by the editors to the early fourth century AD. On the verso is a copy of a document concerned with tax-assessment (not translated). 'Allous to Marion, greeting. Up to today I have, with the help of your mother, discharged the pledges on your behalf. If then you wish to make sure of buying it, give an instalment to Libike through her servants. And copies of the securities have been made for you. So if you don't return, you'll probably blame me. For there are certain people who have been after the site.' |
