The document may be an extract from a record of purchases made by a family or an inventory of property drawn up for some unspecified occasion, e.g. wedding, death or assessment. The prices suggest high-quality items. Translation (Rees, Bell, Barns, Merton II, 1959, with corrections by Ziegler, 1995): Year 23 [of Antoninus Pius], Mesore (=July/August 160 AD). With Thais, a chair and copper vessels, at 100 drachmas. Year 24, Tybi (= December 160/January 161 AD). With Heracleis Aelia, a triple bronze-mirror, at 12 drachmas. 'And, of the articles acquired through Aphroditous, the priests. slave-girl: 'Year 3 [of Marcus Aurelius], Epiph 12 (= 6 July 163 AD). A white robe with Laconian stripes from the fullery of Mystharion the high-priest, at 200 drachmas. 'Year 4, Hathyr 13 (= 10 November 163 AD). Two white tunics, unfulled, at 100 drachmas.
